K2 million office complex proposed for Daru Town Urban Authority

The Daru Town Urban Authority will soon have a dedicated K2 million office facility funded by the Fly River Provincial Government.
The proposed office will have perimeter fencing, carpark as well as a standby generator, all made possible through FRPG’s internal revenue.
This initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at restoring and improving infrastructures within the province’s capital, following the announcement by Western Governor Taboi Awi Yoto.
Governor Toto said Daru was among the first towns in the province to establish an urban authority, but it had no designated office space for their operations.
Yoto said during the 2019 renovation of the rundown provincial assembly building, an office area was allocated for both the mayor and town manager, which is currently been used.
He said the former mayor, Samuel Winggu, pushed for the establishment of an administrative center for Daru Town Urban Authority but due to scares financial resource, the project was unsuccessful.
“This situation is set to change as funding for the long-awaited office building for the Daru Town Urban Authority, which was budgeted last year, is now available,” governor Yoto said.
“All procurement processes and mobilization efforts have been completed, and construction materials are currently in Daru for work to commence.”
Setting up the complex will potentially enhance the capacity of urban authority to serve its community better.
Mr. Yoto said improved facilities will enable staff to work more efficiently, leading to better service delivery and engagement with people of Daru town.
