OIC CID caught in Niusky Pacific scandal as Turi warns others

Assistant Commissioner of Police and NCD/Central Commander Benjamin Turi is warning individuals especially in the police hierarchy including politicians and top bureaucrats to avoid getting involved with ongoing police investigations involving heads of state agencies.
He made these comments following reports of the NiuSky Pacific Limited Board Chairman Robin Kawat running to certain high-profile individuals and CID officers to interfere with the current investigation involving Mr Kawat and the Acting Managing Director Graham Blythe.
ACP Turi confirmed that Mr Kawat tried to lay a complaint against former Managing Director of the NiuSky Pacific Limited Jordan Imal, accusing Mr Imal of misappropriating company property during his time as the Acting Managing Director.
He stated that Mr Imal was arrested last year on similar allegations, but the case was dismissed. He emphasized that there is no reason for Mr. Kawat to deflect attention onto another individual when he has not yet surrendered to the police.
ACP Turi said they found out that the former Managing Director of NiuSky Pacific Limited, Jordan Imal, is one of the candidates shortlisted for the managing director position, and the same complaint being filed by Robin Kawat for the second time is a clear malicious act in an attempt to disturb the process of appointment.
“Apparently, Mr Imal is a short-listed candidate for the Managing Director’s position at NiuSky Pacific, and Kawat submitted the same complaint, directing the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division to arrest Mr Imal again. Kawat used the letterhead from NiuSky Pacific and issued directives to the CID officer without my office or the Metropolitan Superintendent’s office knowing about it.”
ACP Turi also disclosed that the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigating Division [CID] for the National Capital District was following Kawat’s directives without informing either his office or the Metropolitan Superintendent.
“I have proof of a letter of direction from Robin Kawat directing OIC CID to arrest Jordan Imal, and he also made a footnote calling for the case to be looked at again.”
ACP Turi said the investigations surrounding this case have also led them to believe that the OIC for CID NCD and other officers have been allegedly paid by Robin Kawat.
“The question is, is Robin Kawat the Met Supt or the Commander here? We give directives from our office; he should write directly to us instead of writing to the OIC CID and causing inconvenience for everyone.”
ACP Turi emphasized that heads of departments and government agencies should refrain from involving the police in their internal disputes, particularly regarding appointments for high-level positions.
He said, as heads of agencies, they should respect the office of the NCD/Central Command and write directly to his officer concerning allegations against government heads.
