Minister for Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, Soroi Eoe has been appointed as the Acting Governor General for the next three weeks.
This comes at the back of a Cabinet decision following the Governor General Sir Bob Dadae's temporary leave, with both the Chief Justice and Speaker of Parliament unavailable to assume the role.
Prime Minister Marape says the Minister brings a wealth of experience and his leadership in Provincial and Local governance has been instrumental in promoting effective administration at all levels.
“He brings a wealth of experience and unwavering dedication to public service. His leadership in provincial and local governance has been instrumental in promoting effective administration and development at the grassroots level.
"This experience positions him well to fulfill the responsibilities of Acting Governor General,” Marape said.
He said the appointment of Minister Eoe will ensure the uninterrupted functioning of this critical constitution office.
