Tairora Gadsup Local Level Government in the Obura-Woninara District of Eastern Highlands Province has been separated.

Tairora Gadsup LLG was split into Tairoa Rural LLG and Gadsup Rural LLG. The constituencies of the LLG areas will vote separately for their presidents in this LLG Election.

Agriculture Minister and Obura-Wonenara MP John Boito, Election Manager Steven Gore Kaupa, Director Division of District Affairs and Local Level Government Affairs James Sipa were at the Obura-Woninara District headquarters at Aiyura and launch the new LLG on Thursday.

Mr. Boito said; "this is the biggest LLG in the province and the idea of splitting is due to the isolation and the rugged terrain making it difficult for the government services to reach the people.

The electorate has an estimated population of 85,000 people ,104 ward councilors and sometimes we're fighting over budget to have the services delivered. It is also important that the LLG is separated according to its locality.

Mr. Boito acknowledged Provincial Election Commission and the Division of District Affairs and Local Level Government Affairs for supporting the district submission report to have the LLG separated.

Meanwhile, Obura-Woninara District will now have four LLGs, bringing the total number of LLGs in
Eastern Highlands to 25.
