The National Broadcasting Corporation is tirelessly working to ensure all its operations from the headquarters in Port Moresby resume following the heavy downpour last night.

The heavy rain caused major operational disruptions at National Broadcasting Corporation headquarters yesterday.

The national broadcaster has remained offline since last night, with the engineering and IT teams working hard to restore normalcy, possibly this afternoon.

NBC’s Acting Deputy Managing Director, Michael Samuga, assured the public that services would return to normal once the situation is cleared.

"We will resume broadcast as soon as our transmission team gets our link into the main transmission site anytime today," he said.

Samuga said heavy runoff flooding from the Wonga Hill resulted in the backend of broadcast house being waterlogged.

This prompted the engineers to shut down the main server and stand-by generator for precautionary measures.

The National Radio broadcast including Tribe FM was restored around 2 pm this afternoon. The provincial radio stations remain operational with Digital TV broadcasts.

Meanwhile, engineers are now assessing the broadcast house on the electrical status of the building before switching on the power to resume services.
