PM in Palau for Pacific leaders meeting

Prime Minister James Marape is in Palau to join Pacific leaders for a high-level meeting expected to shape discussions on the region’s peace, unity and economic future.

The Prime Minister’s arrival also comes just a day after the PNG Government delivered a K1.3 billion supplementary budget in Parliament.

Touching down in Koror, Palau, the PM steps away from domestic politics to focus on regional issues.

This is not Prime Minister Marape’s first Pacific Islands Forum leaders’ meeting.

Over the years, he has used this platform to strengthen regional relationships with neighbouring Pacific nations and advocate for PNG’s interests.

For the Prime Minister , the Pacific Islands Forum remains the premier political gathering of the Pacific.

Marape says PNG will use this latest gathering to reaffirm its commitment to Pacific unity and push for practical initiatives that can strengthen the region’s economic resilience and support long-term prosperity.

Mr Marape and delegation expected to return home on Friday.
