Livestock Development Corporation reclamation set

The Livestock Development Corporation [LDC] is now conducting its final leg of its asset reclamation project, by taking back the rundown Baiyer River cattle ranch, in the Western-Highlands Province.
LDC Managing Director Terry Koim said that there are more than 14 state leases they own, and most of them have already being reclaimed, and are currently undergoing rehabilitation and restocking.
Mr. Koim says that the Baiyer River Cattle Ranch, which has more than 47 thousand hectares of land, is one of the last properties that will be undergoing this important development, before they move to reclaim the Urimo Ranch in the Sepik Plains.
"The Baiyer River Ranch has been shut down for 32 years, since 1992, they are now taking it back, following the Prime Minister’s directive, to take back all of their properties", Mr Koim said.
Mr. Koim adds that though the reclamation exercise had some delays due to some disagreement and misunderstanding with settlers, they have since resolved those issues with all the disputing parties.
