Motion of confidence in alternate Prime Minister to be tested on the floor of parliament

The motion of Confidence in the alternate Prime Minister, Finschafen MP, Raino Paita will be tested on the floor of parliament today.
Constitutional Lawyer Paul Mawa says it is a Constitutional process and the alternate Prime Minister Nominee name will not change.
He says there is already a Prime Minister in that position and the Constitutional Process will take its course.
Today's parliament sitting will see an expected change in the Prime Minister and government or an unsuccessful motion against the sitting Prime Minister, James Marape.
Constitutional lawyer and former Executive Director of the Constitutional Review Commission, Mr. Mawa highlighted that no one will amend or substitute the alternate PM nominee name, which in this case is Finchaffen MP, Mr. Paita.
"In this case no one will ammend or substitute the alternate PM nominee. If the opposition leader moves the motion and its successful then Renbo Paita automatically becomes the Prime Minister, it its unsuccessful Marape remains Prime Minister but they [Opposition]can move another motion if they're unsuccessful now,"Mr. Mawa said.
Senior Lawyer, Mawa says this is his understanding of the law highlighting that the whoever is to substitute Mr. Paita’s name will have to get the one tenth of the Members of Parliament for the endorsement.
He says because it is a Constitutional process, the whole process will have to be repeated.
However, Mr. Mawa says if the current Prime Minister resigns, than anyone can be a Prime Minister.
"If Marape thinks that he's confident with the numbers he has, he can resign today and get reelected after one day and stay for another 18 months,"Mawa added.
