The Founder of the Peoples Party and Enga Governor, Grand Chief Sir Peter Ipatas has informed the country that his party is behind the Marape-Rosso government but with specific conditions.

Sir Ipatas hasn’t denied the fact that the governance and style of leadership provided by this government was not the outcome citizens expected.

He told the country in a media conference on Tuesday that his party had discussions with PM Marape and his Deputy John Rosso about what's required of them.

“Of course, we informed them that they have not done enough for the last five years, and they need to step up and perform to the expectation of the people of this country.

“We have told them the management of the country and style of leadership must change. And we expect the Prime Minister to take heed of our discussions.

“The Prime Minister listened to us and agreed to a certain extent, and we are hoping that the PM will give necessary support to make the tough decisions the country needs,” Sir Peter said.

He added that addressing the pressing issues of this country requires collective effort from the leaders.

“As I said, we are not supporting or encouraging what has been going on in this country.

“We must also understand that it’s not only the Prime Minister that makes up this country, a lot of problems we are facing now are also the issues caused by all other parties.

“As a senior myself I have to step up on myself as well,” Sir Peter added.

Meanwhile, he said Dr. Lino Tom is a leader with credibility and character and he will remain the leader of the party even if he joins the opposition.
