Dr. Waiye murder case adjourned to Monday
The seven suspects in the murder case of the late Dr. Robert Waiye have been remanded at the Barawagi Correctional Institution after their first court mention today.
The suspects, who have been in custody at the Kundiawa Police Station cells since 17th September, appeared before Senior Provincial Magistrate Edward Kupo at the Kundiawa District Court at 1:00 PM today.
The accused are Emmanuel Wax, 32, Sandra (Emmanuel) Limbia, 30, Sogan Dilu, 32, Moses John, 25, Kailo Andy, 25, Benjamin Kuat, 25, and Polly (Boi) Kaman, 30.
Magistrate Kupo explained the police allegations to the accused and ordered that all seven be charged under one joint charge.
He directed the Criminal Investigation Division and the arresting officer to finalize all charges over the weekend and present the completed file before the court on Monday, 5th October 2026.
Magistrate Kupo further ruled that any application for bail is a matter for the National Court.
The court precinct was packed with Simbu Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, police personnel, relatives of the late Dr. Waiye, the legal team of the Simbu Provincial Health Authority, and members of the general public who turned up to witness the first mention.
All seven accused have been transferred from the Kundiawa Police cells and remanded in custody at Barawagi Correctional Institution pending their next court appearance.
