NBC TV to air Sheilla Yama’s Title-Retaining Bout tonight at 7:30 PM
The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) will broadcast a replay of Papua New Guinean boxer Sheilla Yama's latest title fight tonight at 7:30 pm on NBC TV.
Yama, who hails from Mt Hagen, successfully defended her IBF International super lightweight title over the weekend in Auckland, New Zealand, defeating Australia's Jessica Messina on a unanimous points decision.
The bout, held at Eventfinda Stadium on Auckland's North Shore, served as the main support fight on the Duco Events Ltd and Parker Promotions card.
The contest went the full ten-round distance for the first time in Yama's professional career, with judges scoring the fight in her favour across all three cards.
The win extends her unbeaten professional record to eight wins from eight fights, with three victories by stoppage.
Ranked No.2 in the world at her weight by the International Boxing Federation, Yama could next set her sights on a bout with either IBF No.1 contender Flora Pili of France or No.3 Hannah Robinson of England, with Ireland's Katie Taylor currently holding the IBF world title.
NBC is proud to bring this outstanding performance by one of Papua New Guinea's finest athletes to audiences nationwide.
Viewers are invited to tune in to NBC TV tonight at 7:30 pm to relive Yama's hard-fought victory.
