MVIL begins nationwide health partnership drive to improve insurance claims
Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited [MVIL] has announced plans to sign similar agreements with Provincial Health Authorities across Papua New Guinea after recently signed its first Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] with the National Capital District Provincial Health Authority [NCDPHA].
The agreement aims to improve the verification of medical reports, speed up insurance claims, and strengthen cooperation between the two organisations in supporting road accident victims.
MVIL Chief Executive Officer Bafino Koi said the partnership marks the beginning of a nationwide effort to improve the claims process through closer collaboration with public health authorities.
"This is the first of many partnerships we plan to establish with Provincial Health Authorities across the country," Mr Koi said.
He said verified medical reports prepared by qualified health professionals will help MVIL process claims more quickly while preventing false or excessive payments.
"Most road accident victims receive treatment at public hospitals. Working closely with Provincial Health Authorities is important to ensure claims are processed fairly, accurately and on time," he said.
Under the agreement, MVIL will also support NCDPHA through training and capacity building to strengthen the authority's ability to provide timely and accurate medical reports.
NCDPHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Robin Oge described the agreement as a major milestone for both organizations.
"This partnership will help us better organise our medical and administrative teams to ensure verified medical reports are prepared and submitted efficiently to support the claims process," Dr Oge said.
He said the agreement would improve coordination between the health authority and MVIL, resulting in faster services for people injured in road accidents.
Both organisations said the partnership demonstrates the importance of inter-agency collaboration in delivering more efficient, transparent and people-focused services.
They also expressed confidence that the agreement will serve as a model for similar partnerships with Provincial Health Authorities throughout Papua New Guinea.
