Joseph Manu arrives in PNG for Chiefs visit

Former Sydney Rooster and New Zealand Kiwi International Joseph Manu arrived in Port Moresby this afternoon with his family, accompanied by PNG Chiefs General Manager for Football Michael Chammas and CEO Lorna McPherson.

It was reported earlier this year in April that the new NRL Franchise, PNG Chiefs were after Manu's signature, and his visit to Port Moresby today to see the facilities is likely to see the Kiwi return to rugby league after moving to Japan to play rugby union.

PNG Chiefs General Manager for Football Michael Chammas told media at the Jackson International Airport that Manu's visit is mainly for him and his family to see the facilities and if all goes well, the two time NRL premiership winner could be the next marque signing for the Chiefs.

Manu's visit also indicates that the PNG Chiefs are serious in building a solid roster when they enter the NRL in 2028 with the signings of Jerome Luai, Alex Johnston, Connor Watson and Matty Lees locked in earlier.

Chammas made it clear that the Chiefs mean business in bringing together the games elite talent in order for the Chiefs to be competitive in their inaugural year.

PNG born talents in Gairo Voro, Morea Morea and Finley Glare also signed development contracts recently with promise to improve their contracts if they continue to perform consistently in the UK [London Broncos].
