Kua calls on government to maintain village court magistrate salaries
Sinesine Yongomugl MP Kerenga Kua has called on the Government through the Attorney General’s office to maintain the salaries of village court magistrates.
Kua says, a 2014 cabinet decision established that the first seven village court magistrates were to be paid by the Attorney General’s office, while any others after to be paid by the district.
He says this needs to be clarified and there needs to be consistency and flow in other important law and order tasks in the district levels:
Attorney General Pila Niningi in response said to provide a report to Parliament on this matter.
The 2014 cabinet decision had magistrates and clerks on salaries of over K300 per month.
