On an overcast Saturday at the Bisini Cricket Oval in Port Moresby, the NBC Auris choose to field after winning the toss.

The decision to field nearly backed fired on the minor premiers, after some top notch batting by the Auditor General’s Timo Ray, who retired on 32 runs from 10 balls, the only batter to score double digit for his team.

With 73 runs to win in the 10 over match, NBC top order batting lineup collapsed after opener Pala Hobart was bowled out after scoring 10 runs. Female batter Aileen Asi was run out for 5 runs, whilst male batters Gima Ila run out without scoring and Maru Hobart bowled with only one run against his name.

But the NBC middle order male and female batting partnership of Stephen Mase and Lorraine Iki played a magical innings to turn defeat into victory.

Lorraine was dismissed in the final ball of the second last over of the NBC batting innings with 15 runs to her name, with two boundaries.

Stephen Mase anchored NBC to semifinals with his 15-run, not out in a heart stopping final over, with the fall of additional two female batters and needing one run from one ball, Eslon Wafihwaieh missed hit high ball and risky single run was the ticket confirmation for a possible shot at major prize.
