Taiwan supports EHP with K400,000 worth of solar lighting equipment

The Taiwan Government has supported Eastern Highlands Province with Solar Lighting equipment worth over K400,000
The presentation of the equipment was done yesterday [Friday] in Goroka by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in PNG Representative Ben Wang.
"The Taiwanese government with a spirit of compassion and care has long regarded PNG as one of our long steadfast partners in development cooperation.
"Over the past 30 years through the Taiwan Technical Mission we have assisted local farmers in rice cultivation aiming to achieve food security and self sufficenccy",Mr Wang said.
"In healthcare, Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan has maintained a close partnership with Port Moresby General Hospital in Taiwan has maintained a close partnership with Port Moresby General Hospital, helping to train PNG doctors to become experts in various fields.
"Since 2022, we have also introduced a medical referral for cancer patients, enabling them to receive high quality treatment in Taiwan",he said.
Mr Wang said they are delighted to work with Governor Sia and his team to distribute 720 sets of solar lighting equipment across the Eastern Highlands Province.
Each set include a 10 Watt Solar Pennel and 3 Watt red light tunes.
"We hope this will bring clear and reliable light to many households that have long lived in darkness.
"We firmly believe that light is more than electricity, It symbolizes safety,opportunity and dignity.
"It helps children study with peace of mind keep families safe at night and improve the comfort of daily living",Mr Wang said.
"We hope that this heartfelt gift from Taiwan will not only illuminate their nights but also bring hope and opportunities and a brighter future.
"We sincerely hope this donation marks just the beginning."In the future Taiwan looks forward to engaging in deeper and more meaningful cooperation with Eastern Highlands Province", he said.
Meanwhile Eastern Highlands Governor Simon Sia thank the government and the people of Taiwan for the Solar Lighting equipment.
"I would like to thank the government and the people of Taiwan for the K400,000 worth of Solar Equipment.
"These equipment will be used in rural health centres and school in EHP",Mr Sia said.
Mr Sia said his government is looking forward to work with the Taiwan government in the future.
