Yangoru-Saussia MP launches Tangori police station redevelopment project

Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority [DDA] will fund a modern police station for Tangori along Sepik Highway in Numbo Local Level.

This is the district's continuous effort to fight law and order issues in the district and along the main Sepik Highway.

Local MP, Richard Maru officially opened the project on Good Friday [yesterday] as part of his Easter celebrations with the people of Yangoru-Saussia District.

"Law and order is a challenge for other developments to take place therefore, Yangoru Saussia District, under my leadership wants to ensures law & order is a priority for the district," Maru said.

Minister Maru said funding has been allocated for the redevelopment of Tangori Police Station in the 2025 district budget, and works will commence next week.

East Sepik Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Christopher Tamari, when welcoming the news, thanked DDA for the continued support given to police in the district.

Tamari says Police Department needs such support to deliver policing not only in the district but the province as a whole.

Tamari also took the opportunity to thank the East Sepik Provincial Government and other districts in the province for the commitment to ensuring continuity of policing in the province.

Tamari reiterated the challenges faced by police in East Sepik, the major one being lack of man power with only 150 police personnel policing over 500000 population in the province.

While launching the project, Maru also made presentations of one brand new vehicle each for Yangoru and Tangori police.
