PM Marape calls for unity, forgiveness and hope this Easter

Prime Minister James Marape has urged all Papua New Guineans to use this Easter season to forgive one another, come together in unity, and prepare for the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
In his Easter message, Mr Marape reminded the country of the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died for all people so that we may be forgiven. He said Jesus's life showed true leadership, full of love, humility, forgiveness, and care for others.
“Easter is a time to reflect. Let us stop hate and division and start helping each other, respecting one another, and living in peace,” the Prime Minister said.
As PNG prepares to celebrate 50 years of Independence later this year, PM Marape said this is a special time, the Year of the country's Jubilee - a time to reset, forgive, restore what was lost, and give people a new beginning.
He said the government will lead changes to improve the country, but real change must start in people’s hearts - with good character, strong faith, and working together for a better future.
“If we all show Christian values in our daily lives at home, work, and our communities, we will build a stronger and more united Papua New Guinea,” he said.
The Prime Minister also said he holds no bitterness toward those who disagreed with him in politics and called on all citizens to forgive and live in peace.
“This Easter, let us forgive each other, help one another, and live with love and respect because that is what Jesus would want us to do,” the prime minister said.
He encouraged people not to wait for government handouts, but to take responsibility and be part of the change.
“Let this Easter be a time to reset, restore, and move forward together as one people and one nation under God,” he said.
