The PNG University of Technology's Student Representative Senate's office has confirmed that they are looking forward to presenting their petition to the Ombudsman Commission at 4 o'clock tomorrow [Thursday] afternoon, but are yet to get final confirmation from the Ombudsman Commission's office.

"The Presentation is set for Thursday afternoon 4pm, but I will need the final confirmation tomorrow," said the Unitech SRS President Brent Karol.

NBC News understands that the petition will outline the Unitech students' stand as well as that of students from their sister Universities, on the pressing issues affecting Papua New Guineans nationwide, most of which are on the recent Government decisions.

The Unitech SRS President told NBC News that though the issues raised in the petition by students of each University may slightly differ, it is a collective view of students from all the Universities nationwide aligned into one petition.

He said his office has informed all other Universities' student leaders on the postponed date, that was agreed upon after meeting the Ombudsman Commission's team last Thursday, for this Thursday, the 17th of April which is tomorrow, to be the day of the petition presentation.

"The student leaders have been informed from last week. Our petition is aligned with Sister Universities but differ slightly in certain points," Karol said.

Upon meeting the Unitech SRS last week, the Ombudsman Commission team led by the Chief Ombudsman, Richard Pagen agreed to the meet the students tomorrow, but said he cannot assure the students that he will come back with the team this time to receive the petition, as he has a tight schedule already planned out.

As confirmed by the Unitech SRS President, the petition presentation to the Ombudsman Commission will take place in the Student Representative Senate's office on campus.
