Opposition slams parliament over lack of debate on VONC

The lack of debate on the floor of Parliament yesterday during the Vote of No Confidence [VoNC] in Prime Minister James Marape, has been slammed by the Opposition.
The Opposition highlighted that the Supreme Court orders for the recall of Parliament to deliberate this motion of no confidence, called for a debate.
Madang MP Bryan Kramer explained that as per the Supreme court orders, the Speaker of Parliament "was to facilitate debate."
Mover of the motion, Abau MP Sir Puka Temu says debate was gagged by the Government:
Speaker Job Pomat in his defense yesterday in Parliament, when Opposition MPs demanded for debate on why PM Marape should remain as such, says despite what court order says, Parliament had its own standing orders to guide its processes.
Meantime, the Opposition will be filing contempt proceedings against the Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat and Clerk Kala Aufa over the lack of debate on the motion of no - confidence, in yesterday's session.
Madang MP Bryan Kramer believes that the decision by the Speaker was in breach of section 23 of the constitution.
