URP reaffirms loyalty to Marape-Rosso Government

United Resources Party [URP], the third largest coalition partner in the Marape-Rosso government, has pledged its support to Prime Minister James Marape and his leadership.

URP leader and Minister for State Enterprises, William Duma, said the party has been a key coalition partner since 2019 and played a vital role in forming the current government in August 2022.

“URP’s Parliamentary Wing has unanimously resolved to remain in coalition with the Pangu-led government under Prime Minister James Marape and will stand firm against the Vote of No Confidence currently before Parliament,” Duma said.

Duma emphasized that URP remains committed to political stability and national development.

Other longstanding coalition partners, including the Social Democratic Party [SDP], People's First Party [PFP], and several others, also continue to support the government.

Our Party which has the second highest number in the coalition government have also pledged their support.

Meantime, the Pangu led government remains intact with 78 members.

Meanwhile, the Opposition is expected to push for the Vote of No Confidence in Parliament tomorrow, confident in the numbers they have.
