Drug and alcohol root of social disorder and degradation of moral values in Jiwaka

A life-changing call has been made for Jiwaka people to act promptly in addressing drug and alcohol abuse following a spike in ongoing social problems in the province.

Fatima Parish Priest and deaconry, Andrew Pellet, who was attacked by two drunkards on last Sunday, made this appeal saying the future of this generation is on the verge of collapse, affecting the nationhood.

The 42-year-old from Poland, who works as parish priest and deaconry throughout Jiwaka since 2013, said drug and alcohol abuse is worsening and must be immiediately addressed by the provincial leaders.

He said relevant authorities in the government departments and church elders need to seriously look into it and help police curb these problem.

"Police in Jiwaka are also in dire need for manpower support, and mobility support,” he said of the challenged faced by security force in the provinces.

“The National Government needs to allocate more funds supporting the welfare of police officers and their families."

He reaffirmed that the number of drug and alcohol consumers outnumbered the police personnel in Banz, thus more manpower must be deployed into the province.

He stressed that the police department should to recruit people with morale values so they can uphold their duties and work effectively, addressing social issues without compromising.
