The PNG University of Technology's Student Representative Senate has confirmed, that they won't be presenting their petition to the Ombudsman Commission this Friday, as indicated by a post on the Ombudsman Commission's official Facebook page.

The SRS President, Brent Karol, told NBC that his office wasn't consulted for a proper response, on the exact date of the petition presentation, which still remains to be confirmed.

The said petition is one that will represent the collective views of Unitech students and students from it's sister Universities, on pressing issues affecting Papua New Guineans nationwide, most of which are mainly on the recent Government decisions, with the restriction on Facebook as one of the major concerns.

He also confirmed that this Friday, the 11th of April is set for the University's 57th Graduation, an important ceremony where all students need to be present to attend so the petition presentation will have to be set for a later date.

"This is done without a proper response from us. It will be postponed to a later date due to graduation," Karol said.

Attempts to get a response from the Ombudsman Commission through their Facebook page was unsuccessful, but the post regarding the petition presentation has since been removed.

Speaking to NBC, the Unitech SRS President said he has sent an official email to the Ombudsman Commission to notify them of the school's graduation falling this Friday, and that the SRS will notify them of a later date, once collectively agreed upon by all students.
