West Sepik Health Authority clarifies aminophylline supply

The West Sepik Provincial Health Authority has clarified that they have not received any aminophylline tablets in the past three months from Area Medical Store in Wewak, East Sepik.
This clarification is in light of the tablets being issued to Madang health facilities, which are not in good condition to be distributed to patients.
According to the Sandaun Provincial Hospital Pharmacist, Cornell Hassor, orders are placed every four weeks.
Hassor said they have not received any aminophylline tablets based on their record from the last three months.
This indicates that the medicine which has been issued to Madang is not in circulation in West Sepik health facilities.
However, he said they will continue to emphasize to all health workers and facility staff the importance of conducting visual inspection of all medicine before dispersing.
He said this precautionary measures are important as they will circulate a memo as soon as the hospital receives directions from the National Department of Health to all facilities to remind staff to be vigilant and report any suspected cases of defective medicines, including aminophylline, if found.
