Twenty- seven health facilities in Madang Province have been advised not to administer the latest batch of Aminophylline being supplied to them.

Aminophylline is used to treat and cure wheezing disease and difficulty breathing caused by asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other lung diseases. It relaxes and opens air passages in the lungs, making it easier to breathe.

Advice from the Department of Health not to use the latest batch of Aminophylline was sent to the Morobe Provincial Health Authority, however; facilities listed are in Madang Province, thus information was shared on the Middle Ramu District WhattsApp group by an officer with the Morobe Provincial Health Authority, in the hope of spreading this vital information quickly to the people of Madang.

The notice states that the Area Medical Store in Lae has issued Aminophylline tablets, detailing that the color of this particular batch looks unusual with brown and white patches that look like mold growing on them.

Health facilities are being instructed NOT TO USE them until further notice.

Health facilities that have been issued include the Madang Provincial Hospital, Bunapas, Raikos HC, Awake, Ariangon HC, Kaiyoma, Bogia District Hospital, Danben Clinic, Bieng, Miak, Sausi, Brahman, Yagaum Rural Hospital, Gumbrami, Mapor, Bunabun Health Centre, Baitabag Clinic, Walium Health Centre, Tauta, Alexishafen Health Centre, Kulubob, Malala School Clinic, Gaubin Rural Hospital, Igos, Sangapi, Daugul, and Josephstaal Health Centre.

An attempt to get Madang Provincial Health Authority to comment on this matter was not successful by the time this story was published.
