41 brand new vehicles for Mobile Squad

The move to plug the K30 million hole that the Police Department spends on hire cars annually has begun today, John Rosso, the Deputy Prime Minister said this in Lae today.

The Member for Lae and Acting Prime Minister made this statement when he presented keys of 41 brand new vehicles to the Northern Mobile Group, Highlands Mobile Group and the New Guinea Island Mobile group.

Mr Rosso said the government plans to buy 800 cars to re-fleet the police force in the country and this was the beginning of this exercise.

He added that the savings from the hire cars will be used to attend to other areas of the police force like maintenance of houses, purchase of police uniforms and the construction of new police barracks and homes.
Peter Guinness, the Assistant Commissioner for police for the Northern Region thanked the Marape/Rosso government for this action and urged his men to look after the police cars.

Peter Tsiamalili Jr, the Minister for Police, Samson Kua, Deputy Police Commissioner Operations, representatives of the Australian Federal Police and other dignitaries witnessed this presentation today.
