Fijian energy solutions company to tap into PNG to reduce power cost

The Paradise Technologies Group – a leading energy-efficient solutions company in the South Pacific is looking to invest in Papua New Guinea.
The Fijian company specializes in delivering comprehensive services across multiple industries in the region, is set to establish its office in Port Moresby in mid this year.
The representatives of the company, including the founder and director, Raghu Chowdhary, were among a Fiji business and trade delegation who were on a trade mission in Port Moresby, from the 23rd to the 27th of March 2025.
Chowdhary said the cost of electricity in PNG is 60 per cent higher compared to Fiji, 40 per cent, and they see a huge potential that they can tap into, reducing electricity costs in doing business.
“We are in the business of energy saving. Energy cost is one of the biggest worries for our people in PNG. We found that everybody we spoke to they’re already saying that the costs of energy are becoming prohibitive, so there have to be some methods of reducing the cost, and that’s where we are coming into the picture,” Chowdhary said.
“We have technologies which can cut down your electricity bill by almost 30-40 per cent. So, what we do is we go into the location, and we do an audit, and we find out where we can put all our equipment, which can save your electricity cost; and by doing that, you can save 30-40 per cent of costs. And that’s the biggest contribution we can give to PNG.
“And I think everybody we have spoken to is all interested in getting our products in PNG and installing them, so based on that, we have decided that we should be coming to PNG and set up our business in April or the month of May.
“The most important thing that we found is that people are very friendly. We got a very good reception from the IPA (Investment Promotion Authority) when we came here. They (IPA) came and met us, and they gave a very good introduction of how we can start our business. I think all these are going to help us to make sure that we start up the business.
“If we can do our business here, then many other interested people can come to PNG and do the same. So, at this point, we can say that PNG is a place we are really happy to come,” he said.
The Fiji delegation was led by Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica and Investment Fiji representatives who had conducted meetings and visited several business houses and companies in Port Moresby during the visit.
This is the first time for the Paradise Group to be in PNG and Mr. Chowdhary said they were happy with the fruitful discussions held with several commercial operators during the visit and will share their stories with the people back in Fiji.
