Health Minister Elias Kapavore has strongly rejected social media speculations about a drug shortage in the country.

Minister Kapavore reassured that the Marape Rosso government, through the Health Ministry is doing a major public health reset to restore confidence and trust in the health system of the country.

He said the current government is committing more money to the health sector for this year, unlike before.

For the first time, the government is committing K239 million to address the health workforce issues and another K270 million to procure drugs for treatment.

Mr  Kapavore visited the Sikimaru Health Centre in Karamui and Gembogl Rural Hospital in Simbu Province and confirmed that there are enough medical supplies.

“I am now calling on certain individuals who are posting on social media, especially Facebook, claiming a drug shortage to provide the list of the hospitals or health centers where there is a shortage and bring it to the authorities to consider….”

“Health is not a political matter; it’s a vital service and we must not play politics on health which is people’s life,” Kapavore said.
