Deputy Governor for New Ireland Sammy Missen has been given 48-hour ultimatum to make his intentions known to the current government.

Newly appointed governor for New Ireland, Walter Schnaubelt, gave this ultimatum, saying the province needs urgent leadership to save New Ireland from entering a huge void.

He says, failure to do so will see the appointment of a new deputy governor.

"I now have been appointed legitimately as the Governor of the New Island Province, through the process of law within the provincial assembly, where I had eight presidents, mandated leaders, eight, all supporting my appointment, which is the majority.

"We ask him now, Honorable Sammy Missen. Now that there is a governor, do you want to be my deputy? If you want to be my deputy, I'll give you 48 hours to come and declare yourself now.

"Now position me. I am the Governor of the New Island Province. But sorry, I have a province to run, so I cannot give you seven days. You have 48 hours, you have two days, to come and see me and declare your position, if you still want to be Deputy Governor of New Island Province.

Schnaubelt said, "If I don't see you by 4:06 PM on Wednesday, April 2nd, which is 48 hours from now, I will make my own decision and appoint a new Deputy Governor for my administration."

Meanwhile the ultimatum was effected as of yesterday Monday, March 31st, 2025, at 4:06 pm, to 4:06pm Wednesday tomorrow.
