The PNG University of Technology's Student Representative Senate has announced that they will be presenting a petition to the Ombudsman Commission, collectively voicing concerns from its students and other university students throughout the country.

The Unitech SRS has reviewed the points raised by students during the open forum on March 27th and communicated with student leaders from universities nationwide.

After considering credible sources, a collective decision has been made by all universities in the country to submit a petition to the Ombudsman Commission.

This petition will address concerns from Unitech students, along with those from other universities.

The Unitech SRS confirmed that there will be no protest, as students will follow the proper channels to demand transparency and accountability from the authorities.

NBC News understands that as per an official Press Statement from the office of the Unitech SRS, the pressing national issues to be highlighted as concerns in this petition, will be the governance of the current administration of the country, the Counter -Terrorism Act and the amendments to the Constitutional Parliamentary Act 2025 [Section 145 - Motion of no Confidence].

Once finalized, a student representative from Unitech and its sister universities will present the petition to the Ombudsman Commission.

In the meantime, the Unitech SRS urges all students to stay engaged as they continue to advocate on their behalf.
