Bulolo MP Sam Basil Junior has urged his people to be vigilant when traveling their road during the rainy period because of the mountainous vegetation.

The call comes in the midst of the recent death of a grade 10 student in a car accident caused by a landslip along the Buang back road.

A frustrated Buang LLG President Bob Ken has called on Mr Basil, to engage a contractor to fix this section of the road.

"As the responsible leader of the LLG, I request for Bulolo MP to at least have a good contractor to work on the road, which our people depend on, to access town. Have a good contractor that will build a good road to avoid accidents taking place in the future."

Mr Basil junior in his last visit to the area, is impressed with the work of the foreign company RJ construction and said he has no doubt in their field of expertise.

The 4km road project of the Buang road is underway with second phase to be completed before the sealing process stars.

Basil explained," RJ is an Asian company who is not new to Bulolo and has proved to build quality road works at some parts of the Bulolo town and I have no doubt, that the company will produce quality for Buang road."

Basil advised his people that they must be cautious of the road condition during wet weather and use the old road that’s still exists and is in a good state to access traveling to the main highway.

Basil said, "So, I am thinking of blowing off the back road, and all vehicles will access the front road until shielding is complete."

Bulolo Development Authority under the leadership of the Chairman and MP Sam Basil Junior, the progress of work in the district is underway for roads, Water Supply, Solar, Agriculture, Law and Order, Health and Education.

MP Basil appealed to his people to provide hospitality to the service providers when they're in the area for work purpose, like for the power project that PNG Power is currently making connections.

The last two weeks saw several projects that were launched under those respective sectors as education, health, solar, and water supply, and more is yet to follow.
