Marape to front up in court over Paraka case

Prime Minister James Marape is appearing this morning as a state witness in the controversial court case of former finance department deputy secretary Jacob Yafai.
Prime Minister Marape was the finance minister in 2012 and is testifying into the alledged illegal payments of K41 million processed to Paul Paraka Lawyers.
Prime Minister James Marape was accompanied to the court room today by Attorney General Pila Niningi.
Marape is currently undergoing questions from the state Prosecutions on his involvement in the payments.
Marape informed court that despite his instructions to the the accused and Finance secretary to stop payments to the paraka Lawfirm, a total of four Illegal payments were processed.
Counsel representing the accused is expected to screen and question Marape's evidence presented in court over the last hour.
The Waigani court room one is currently under heavy security presence as Prime Minister Marape presents his evidence.
