Two main suspects from Enga arrested in relation to Baruni, rape and murder in February

Two main suspects who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the late Margret Gabriel at her house in WaterMark Estate are now in police custody, according to NCD/Central Commander Benjamin Turi.
Commander Turi confirmed that the members of Force 10, under the command of Inspector Jack Wesil, had worked with the community for the last three weeks, which successfully led to one suspect being apprehended and another being handed over to the police by the community.
Commander Turi stated that there were other suspects who were apprehended earlier, all from Goilala, who are now detained in the cell. He mentioned that the others were released after being questioned about the crime but were not involved.
He said that only four of the other Goilala suspects were allegedly involved and are now detained in the cell. He noted that with the four in the cell and the two now taken in, the total adds up to six.
"From the information collected, there were seven individuals who actually went into the house and are now in custody, with one still on the run," Turi said.
"The others who were involved in the crime outside of the house are also known and will be apprehended soon. I am calling on the community to bring forward the others.
"The other main suspect who is still on the run will be picked up soon. I want to thank the Task Force members for their great intelligence work that led to the apprehension of the two. The six main suspects are now at Boroko under investigation."
Commander Turi thanked the community and individuals who led to the apprehension of the six. He said they are still working on collecting information about the others.
Commander Jack Wesil of Task Force Ten, who was present at Baruni to pick up one of the suspects, acknowledged the people residing there to hand over the suspect to them.
Margret Gabriel was raped and willfully murdered on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Water Mark Estate in Port Moresby.
