Pariwa calls for tougher action by police over social media threat

Madang governor Ramsey Pariwa is concerned with the recent threat issued to him and Acting Provincial Administrator, Daniel Aloi.
Pariwa has called on Police Commissioner, David Manning and Minister for Internal Security, Peter Tsiamalili Junior, to take tougher actions against the alleged perpetrator.
Mr Pariwa was informed by his officers about a serious threat posted on social media (Facebook), aimed at him and the acting PA.
“Such threats concerning leaders is a matter of national security. I will not tolerate this behaviour in Madang as the person behind the post is from Wabag and I want to remind him that the law will take full action against him facing charges under the Cyber Crime Act and the new Counter Terrorism Act, 2024,” Pariwa said.
The threat against Pariwa and Aloi was posted days after the latter assumed office as the Acting Provincial Administrator, taking over from Frank Lau, through a court ruling by the National Court.
Pariwa said; “the post claims that there could be consequences if we take office, implying that we might be killed following the recent court victory by the Acting Provincial Administrator”.
The Madang governor said he won’t take the matter lightly until justice is prevailed, urging that security and prosperity remains a priority for Madang people.
