While a quiet Independence for Alotau, the seaside township did not disappoint with their usual march parade and float displays to the Alice Wedega Park.

Deputy Governor Lelena Metoa was a guest of honor; he reminded the small crowd of government and business house employees to reflect on how far PNG has come and the road ahead that we all can contribute to in terms of the future we hope for.

Metoa stood in for Governor Gordom Henry Wesley who could not celebrate the day with Alotau having taken I'll yesterday.

The day continued with fun and games inclusive of greasy pole challenges and will end with the lowering of the flag.
