The ruling Pangu Party supporters have been urged to remain calm leading up to the vote of no- confidence on Thursday, this week.

Pangu general secretary Morris Tovebae issued the call, emphasizing the importance of upholding the country's values and supporting the leadership of Prime Minister James Marape during this crucial period.

He said the political situation might be challenging and frustrating, but the people have to be open-minded and allow the parliamentary process to take its course.

"Let us be steadfast in our resolve to allow the democratic process to take place," he said.

"Let us give this time to our parliamentary wing members, under the Leadership of Prime Minister and parliamentary leader James Marape, Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, and our coalition partners, to manage politics for the interests of our great nation."

The government caucus is confident of defending itself against the looming VONC that has been pushed by the Opposition.

Boasting 76 members in camp, PM Marape affirmed that they remain intact to battle the motion of no confidence.

Parliament is expected to resume this Thursday where members of both sides will decide the PM's leadership post.

The opposition currently has 34 MPs under the wing of leader Douglas Tomuriesa as Reinbo Paita takes the alternate prime minister nominee.

With two days remaining before the sitting, political movements are expected to take course within the two camps.
