Red carpet set for Pope Francis

The red carpet has been rolled out and the stage is set at the APEC International terminal tarmac to receive the Holy Father, Pope Francis this evening.

Pope Francis is expected at 6:50 pm where he will be accorded a 21 gun salute and traditional welcome.

He will be received by Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko and clergymen.

Security is tight and media personnel including other dignitaries are being searched before entry.
