Madam Rufina to host charity fundraiser

Governor for Central Rufina Peter has made an announcement to host a charity corporate fundraiser to raise funds for communities along the Kokoda track in the Mount Koiari area and the Kapakapa Ghost Mountain track in the Rigo District, Central Province.
The Governor has already tracked the Central side of Kokoda track and will also be walking the Kapakapa track in September this year.
Both the Kokoda and Kapakapa tracks are historical sites that were used during World War 2.
Governor for Central Rufina Peter has announced that she will be hosting a corporate charity fundraiser at Apec Haus in Port Moresby on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
This announcement was made during the Gabagaba Appeal Day event at Gabagaba Village.
The Governor emphasized that the Kokoda Track and the Kapakapa Ghost Mountain Track are important tourism sites in the country.
Having walked the Kokoda Track in July, she saw the daily challenges faced by the people living along the track. She expressed her commitment to helping these communities with government support.
Governor Peter mentioned that the Central Province Government is also eager to develop the Kapakapa Ghost Mountain Track in partnership with local communities.
The funds raised from the corporate charity fundraiser will assist these projects.
"Whatever we raise will go towards helping the people," Ruffina said.
Tables for the event are available for purchase at K10, 000 each.
In addition to the fundraiser, Governor Peter and her team will begin walking the Kapakapa Ghost Mountain Track on Monday, September 23, this year.
