Santos Foundation and MRDC signs Community Development partnership

Santos Foundation and the Mineral Resources Development Company Limited (MRDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today [Monday 26th of August 2024], to enhance the development of Nipa-Kutubu District, Southern Highlands Province.
This partnership focuses on six strategic priorities within the Nipa-Kutubu District.
This includes upgrading education infrastructure and resources, enhancing security, law and justice through youth involvement, and creating sustainable employment and agricultural opportunities for young people.
In addition, MRDC’s community infrastructure and social programs, facilitate comprehensive registration for the PNG Civil and Identity Registry’s NID Project in district, and support the improvement of water, sanitation, and hygiene in the district.
This partnership reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation and community engagement. By combining our resources and expertise, Santos Foundation and MRDC aim to implement scalable initiatives that will benefit communities throughout Papua New Guinea.
"This partnership with Santos Foundation is a significant step towards achieving sustainable development. We are focused on improving lives through strategic collaboration,” Mr. Mano said.
Jean Martin, Head of Santos Foundation PNG also said they are dedicated to creating
opportunities and empowering communities in Papua New Guinea.
"Working with MRDC is key to achieving some of these goals. We are excited to see our combined vision and resources drive impactful change and development," Martin said.
This collaboration leverages Santos Foundation's on-the-ground development expertise and MRDC's role in managing project benefits, ensuring sustainable growth and improved quality of life for the people of Southern Highlands.
