National Prayer and Repentance Day underway in Mt Hagen

The National Day of Prayer and Repentance is underway at Queens Park in Mt. Hagen, Western Highlands Province.
The significant national event is witnessed by churches in Western Highlands and neighboring provinces in the Highlands Region.
Workship and praise started at 4am in the morning before the arrival of the guests including Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa, Minister for Community Development Youth and Religion Jason Peter, Attorney General Pila Niningi and other distinguish guests.
The main event of the day is currently underway which is the Chain Prayer for PNG from pastors and lay persons of different denominations in the province.
The chain prayers include confession for the government and people, thanksgiving, supplication, parliamentarians, economy of the country, law and order issues in the country, citizens of PNG, family and church unity, prayer against sorcery related violence, tribal fight, peace, victims of natural disaster, Papua New Guineans living and serving overseas, prayer for Israel, and prayer for the country's 50th golden jubilee anniversary.
Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa has and leaders of all levels in WHP and neighboring Jiwaka and other provinces also part-take in momentous occasion.
Governor Rapa said it is timely and right for this Day to be held in Mt Hagen as the Highlands region is going through a tough and challenging times especially with law-and-order issues and even though governments of all levels have addressed it with limited resources, this is the time they need God and His wisdom.
"Repentance is key for progress of the country and I appreciate everyone for turning up in numbers," Rapa said.

Christian Faith must be defended and preserved: Dr. Okti
Papua New Guinea Bible Church Southern District gathered in numbers to celebrate National Day of Prayer and Repentance.
Chief Surgeon General and Pediatric Southern Region, Dr. Poki in his remarks strongly emphasized what individual Christians can do to defend the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Poki said embracing Christian faith and defending righteousness is what every Christian should do.
"Let no other religion coming into the country overlook the Christian faith we have. We as professionals have the huge responsibility to protect and preserve the message of holiness.
"We must not hide the faith we have and give space to other foreign gods. I am doing everything I can to protect these messages and will pass on to my children. Poki said.
Dr. Poki is a very is God fearing Chief Surgeon at the Port Moresby General Hospital also grateful for the missionaries of various denomination who left behind their comfort zones and brought the message to highways and by-ways of Papua New Guinea.
"I am so grateful for the missionaries. I haven't had the opportunity to see them, but I am grateful for the foundation they set in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"I as the medical doctor I will do everything to protect this gospel message. In my time I won't let anyone apart from my Christian faith look down on the God of Abraham, Issac and God of Jacob," Dr. Poki added.
The Christians around the country observe this significant day to thanks God and repent from their sins and ask Lord for forgiveness and restoration upon their families and nation.
