The US Ambassador to PNG, Her Excellency Anne Marie Yastishock has ended her two days visit to various locations in East New Britain province on Thursday [yesterday].

Her Excellency arrived in the province on Wednesday earlier this week.

She visited important government infrastructures, tourism sites, agriculture institutions and met with senior members of the provincial government.

Her Excellency Anne Marie Yastishock said her visit to East New Britain is the first since her appointment early this year, as the US ambassador to PNG, Solomon Islands, and the Republic of Vanuatu.

The highlight of her visit was the stopover at one of the excavation sites on the outskirts of Rabaul town, where the remains of 5 missing US soldiers were exhumed.

"It's really a moving experience to be able to find where they found and bring those people home," Yustishoc said.

Apart from the two days official trip, she has extended her stay in the province for at least three more days.

Her visit is seen by many as a gesture to further strengthen the US - PNG government bilateral relationship.
