TSC approves 31 teaching positions for Valupai Secondary School

The Papua New Guinea Teaching Service Commission has approved 31 teaching positions for the new Valupai Catholic Secondary School in the Talasea District of West New Britain Province.
TSC Provincial Representative Vences Soweng made this known while officiating at the opening of a teacher’s house at the Valupai Junior High School, recently.
Member for Talasea, Freddie Reu Kumai welcomed this announcement and pledged his support to continue funding infrastructure at the new secondary school.
Valupai Catholic Secondary School is expected to commence classes next year.
So far seven teachers' houses have been built along with 2 four in one double classrooms and an administration block. Water Supply has also been installed.
The Talasea District Development Authority Board and the Provincial Government are jointly funding the infrastructure to establish the school.
While commissioning the new teacher’s house at the Valupai Junior High School, Mr Kumai clarified that the Junior High School will be disbanded, and the current facilities will be taken over by the new secondary school.
In anticipation of this, the Talasea DDA Board has funded the creation of new primary schools at the Buluwara and Liapo to cater for students from Valupai.
“It a vision we had and after 50 years we are about to deliver and you must be grateful,” Local MP Freddie Kumai said.
The school will initially commence operations with about seven teachers and the other teaching positions will be filled later on.
