The case of the late Dr. Robert Waiye was today deferred to November 4th, 2026, by the Kundiawa District Court.

Senior Provincial Magistrate, Edward Kupo told the court this morning that all seven suspects have been charged with Willful Murder under Section 300 of the Criminal Code Act.

He further explained the charge under Section 7 of the Criminal Code, which states that a person is deemed to have taken part in an offence if they:

  • actually commit the act;
  • enable or aid another person to commit the offence;
  • assist another person in committing the offence; or
  • counsel or procure another person to commit the offence.

Magistrate Kupo clarified that the Kundiawa District Court does not have jurisdiction to hear bail applications for such offences and advised that the suspects may apply for bail through a lawyer in the National Court.

He also informed the court that cases of this nature can take between six to twelve months or even years to complete and urged the suspects to cooperate with case officers and CID officers to ensure the case is dealt with promptly.

The seven suspects have been remanded and escorted back to the Barawagi Correctional Institution to await their next court appearance.

The matter is now before the court and will return on November 4th, 2026.

Dr. Robert Waiye, 26, from Sinasina-Yongomugl, died on September 16 after he was allegedly assaulted at Gateway Fuelers at Prenorka in Kundiawa. Police have arrested seven suspects in relation to his death.
