Students warned against post exam nuisance
Grade 10 and 12 students have been warned that public nuisance after the final examinations will not be tolerated.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab, in a statement issued today, warned students against alcohol and home brew consumption, drug use, noise pollution and school fights.
“Be responsible. I will not tolerate public nuisance by students involved in alcohol, home brew, drugs, noise pollution, or school fights,” he said.
He reminded students that a precedent was set earlier this year when police arrested and charged 90 students over school fights.
“That precedent stands. I will not mince my words on this. Celebrate your achievement the right way, safely, and with respect for your community.”
Superintendent Simatab also urged parents to take responsibility for their children’s safety and behaviour during the post-exam period.
At the same time, he encouraged students sitting their final exams to remain focused.
“Stay focused, do your best, and make your families and this city proud.”
