The Ministry of Art, Culture and Tourism and National Cultural Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] with Milne Bay Provincial Government last Friday.

It is essentially focused on a way forward in capturing, enhancing and boosting Milne Bay's thriving tourism sector.

‎The MoU signed with the provincial government will work towards closely monitoring the number of tourists travelling in and out of Milne Bay.

National Cultural Commission chief executive officer, Steven Kilanda was also present in Alotau with Minister for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Belden Namah.

‎Namah said the MoU will trigger the promotion of arts and culture in its authenticity in Milne Bay and also help establish a cruise ship terminal.

‎"I am talking to the National Government to build a proper cruise-ship terminal in Alotau, when the tourist ship come, we must account for how many tourists are coming onshore,” he said.

‎Namah added that this action is to minimize law and order and unemployment, while investing in tourism.
