MBPHA launches website and intranet system
The difficulty in disseminating important health information to rural health facilities in Milne Bay has greatly affected the progress of health services in the Milne Provincial Health Authority (MBPHA).
The launch of its new website and intranet system is expected to greatly improve its information sharing between the Provincial health authority, its health facilities in the rural areas and the general public.
The Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority (MBPHA), on Wednesday, launched its website and intranet system as a way to improve communication and information sharing across all its health facilities in the province.
The Acting Chief Executive officer, Dr Dale Frank, at the launching said the website and intranet system is very important, especially with information dissemination.
"Many a times people ring us asking for information regarding health services, maybe introduction of new fees to certain services, we can't answer everyone who need that information.
"When people understand the health information we provide, they'll understand what it means to their life. We have a lot of issues in the hospital, but we can't go and talk to everybody, the website will. In this age and time, students may want to do assignments on health, the website will assist them in finding out the services we offer." Dr Frank said.
MBPHA Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Manager, Newton Jau, said the newly developed intranet will now enhance fast tracking of information and transform health service delivery across the province.
He added the intranet will now connect the Provincial hospital with patients and the health workers while strengthening access to patients' information, including laboratory results and treatments among other health services.
The MBPHA website will also promote accountability and transparency, it will also provide information to the general public, development partners and donors about the authorities' functions and services.
The website will also provide information about the operations of every health facility throughout Milne Bay Province.
