Kenagi pig checkpoint shutdown after public complaints
The Simbu Provincial Police Command has officially closed the NAQIA pig inspection checkpoint at Kenagi, restoring uninterrupted travel for the public along the route.
Simbu Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent, Mazuc Rubiang confirmed the checkpoint was dismantled as of yesterday and is no longer operational.
The decision came after multiple complaints from travelers regarding the conduct and operations of officers stationed at the post.
Supt.Mazuc said the concerns were assessed and addressed in consultation with relevant authorities.
"With authorization, two sections of Mobile Squad MS/08 from Kerowagi were sent to the site to order officers to cease operations and vacate. The directive was complied with, and all personnel have since withdrawn," he said.
A follow-up inspection by the PPC confirmed the checkpoint has been completely removed.
Travelers are now free to use the Kenagi route without interruption or inspection at the former checkpoint location.
The Simbu Provincial Police Command says it remains committed to ensuring all law enforcement and inspection activities are conducted lawfully, fairly, and in the public interest.
Citizens are encouraged to continue reporting any concerns through official police channels.
