Governor Undialu invites National Fisheries and Forest Authorities to Hela
Hela Governor Philip Undialu has extended an open invitation to the National Fisheries Authority [NFA] and the National Forest Authority [NFA] to establish a stronger presence in Hela Province and other provinces throughout the country.
Governor Undialu commended the important work being undertaken by both authorities under the leadership of their respective responsible Ministers, but emphasized that these are national institutions whose services and programs must be visible and accessible across all provinces.
“While I congratulate the National Fisheries Authority and the National Forest Authority for the work they are doing, I encourage them to make their presence felt in Hela Province.
"These are national functions and our people should be able to benefit directly from their expertise, programs, and development initiatives,” Governor Undialu said.
He stated that both organizations have much to offer in terms of resource development, job creation, skills training, sustainable resource management, environmental protection, downstream processing, rural income generation, small and medium enterprise development, and investment opportunities.
Governor Undialu said Hela possesses significant untapped potential in forestry; aquaculture, inland fisheries, and value-added industries that can help diversify the provincial economy and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
“I invite both authorities to visit Hela, engage with our communities and leaders, and explore opportunities for partnership and investment. Development should not be concentrated in only a few regions. Every province deserves access to the opportunities and services provided by our national agencies,” he said.
He reaffirmed Hela Province’s commitment to working collaboratively with national agencies to unlock economic opportunities, create employment, and improve the living standards of its people through sustainable and responsible resource development.
