Commander Hosea Roboam has officially assumed command of Lombrum Naval Base in Manus following a handover-takeover ceremony that marked the transfer of leadership from outgoing Commanding Officer Commander Roy Dromenge.

The ceremony signified an important transition for the Papua New Guinea Defence Force's Maritime Element as the base continues to support national maritime security operations.

Commander Dromenge thanked officers, sailors, and civilian staff for their dedication and support during his tenure.

"I am deeply grateful to the officers, sailors, and civilian staff of Lombrum Naval Base for their dedication and support throughout my tenure," he said.

Reflecting on the future of the PNGDF Maritime Element, Commander Dromenge urged experienced personnel to pass on their knowledge to younger sailors.

"The PNGDF Maritime Element is gradually losing valuable skills and experience through retirements and natural attrition. I encourage those with knowledge and expertise to mentor the younger generation," he said.

Commander Dromenge also acknowledged the support of the Los Negros and Manus communities, as well as the families and friends who contributed to the base's success during his two years and three months in command.

Incoming Commanding Officer Commander Roboam paid tribute to his predecessor and pledged to build on the achievements made under his leadership.
