City Governor and ADB discuss future development for Port Moresby
Governor Powes Parkop has met with the new Country Director of the Asian Development Bank [ADB], Takafumi Kadono, to discuss future development projects for Port Moresby.
The meeting took place on May 13 and focused on strengthening partnership between the National Capital District Commission and the ADB.
Officials from ADB and officers from the Governor’s Office also attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on key areas including city transport, affordable housing, water and sanitation, and building stronger urban infrastructure to improve living conditions in Port Moresby.
Governor Parkop welcomed Mr Kadono and acknowledged the long partnership between ADB and Papua New Guinea.
He said ADB has supported many important development projects in the country over the years.
Governor Parkop also stressed the importance of continuing to work closely with development partners to address the growing challenges facing the city.
The meeting also discussed the need for proper urban planning, better infrastructure investment, and improving basic services to meet the needs of Port Moresby’s growing population.
Both sides ended the meeting by making their commitment to continue working together on major development projects in the National Capital District.
